Have you ever felt that there may be more to your family's story than you know? Or perhaps information has been deliberately hidden from you? Is it true that what you don't know can't hurt you? Or does unknown family history impact us in ways we don't fully understand? My name is Yvette Griffea-Gray. At six years old, I experienced a life-changing traumatic event. It was a topic I wouldn't say I liked to talk about much. Then, one day, I received a message on social media that made me question what I thought I knew about my past.
A past I thought I had healed from and a past that I thought was long behind me.
You know about my parents and, you know, all that happened when I was six.
It still trips me out. It still trips me out to this day. I feel like I would be a mess.
But I've known since you told me about part of your story that it's going to be told.
Maybe it's best to leave well enough alone, but I can't help wondering: What else don't I know?
Join me as I revisit a family tragedy and unearth a hidden past that I didn't dare face until now. It's a journey of reconciliation and self-discovery, One that I hope promotes healing in myself and others.
